The British Council
The purpose of the British Council is to build mutually beneficial relationships between people in the UK and other countries and to increase appreciation of the UK’s creative ideas and achievements.

The British Council in Libya
The British Council in Libya now has a new headquarters in Tripoli. It carries out a wide range of activities, including:
• English teaching: The British Council offers English language courses at all levels, from beginners all the way to advanced students. All of the teachers are qualified, native speakers of English.
• Advice on studying in the UK: A wide range of the latest information on studying in the UK is available from the British Council. The Council also employs a trained education officer who will be able to give you personal advice to enable you to make the right choices for you.
• Examinations: The British Council administers numerous examinations, including IELTS and various professional examinations, on behalf of UK institutions.
• Organizing events: the British Council in Libya works in collaboration with Libyan partners every year on various events, such as a recent lecture on climate change.
