British Embassy Scholarships

Chevening Scholarships are funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and administered by the British Council. The Chevening scheme offers full-time postgraduate scholarships of varying length to Libyan Nationals who will play a key role in promoting Libya's political, economic and social development

The Chevening scholarship scheme is named after the British Foreign Secretary's country residence at Chevening in Kent.

The Embassy in Libya offer a number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies in the UK:

Am I eligible?

Scholarships are open to Libyan Nationals wishing to undertake postgraduate studies in the following subject areas:

• Banking
• Biological and Chemical Science
• Business Studies
• Economics
• Environment
• Finance
• Human Rights
• Information Technology
• International Relations
• Law
• Management
• Media
• Public Health

Candidates will be expected to show at least two years' work experience, with an excellent track record illustrating their achievements, and evidence that they will become a leader in their chosen field. Applicants will also need an upper second class degree or higher.

Chevening candidates must have good English language skills, as most UK Higher Education institutions require a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 for admission to postgraduate courses.

How do I apply?

You will need to submit an online application :

If selected for an interview you will then need to provide the following documents prior the interview date;

• supporting letters from two referees
• photocopies of academic certificates 
• transcripts/records of exams that you have passed
